For more than twenty years, I sat across the table from talented people who were stuck.

A high school junior who could out-argue anyone in the room but had no idea what she wanted to study, because no one had ever asked her what she cared about — only what her GPA was. A college sophomore who'd chosen a major because it sounded impressive at Thanksgiving dinner, not because it meant anything to him. A thirty-four-year-old switching careers for the third time, still chasing a version of success someone else had defined for her.

I was their teacher. Their counselor. Their coach. Their college navigator. Their youth leader. And over two decades, I kept seeing the same pattern, over and over, in every role: the people who struggled most weren't the ones who lacked ability. They were the ones who lacked clarity about who they actually were.

We've built entire systems to measure what students do — their grades, their test scores, their performance metrics. We track academic growth down to the decimal point. But almost nowhere in that system do we measure identity. Purpose. Strengths. Values. Belonging. The things that actually drive whether someone thrives or just gets by.

We ask “what do you want to do?” long before we ever help someone answer “who am I?” And then we wonder why so many talented people end up in the wrong classroom, the wrong career, the wrong life.

KNOWN. exists to fix that sequence.

What KNOWN. actually is

KNOWN. is an identity development company. We help students, educators, organizations, and communities build confidence, belonging, purpose, and direction — before we ask them to decide on a major, a career, or a five-year plan.

We do this by combining:

  • Evidence-based identity frameworks — grounded in real research, not trend-chasing
  • AI-powered coaching — for personalized reflection and support at scale
  • Human mentorship — because some things still need a person, not a prompt
  • Actionable data — so growth in identity can be tracked with the same rigor as academic growth

In practice, that looks like identity assessments, personalized growth pathways, coaching (both AI and human), leadership curriculum, and dashboards that give schools, organizations, and families a clear picture of a person's development — not just their grades.

Who it's for

KNOWN. is built for the people and institutions shaping the next generation, and for the adults still figuring themselves out:

  • Students, from middle school through college
  • Schools and school districts
  • Nonprofits and youth-serving organizations
  • Employers investing in emerging leaders
  • Coaches, mentors, and counselors
  • Adults navigating a career or life transition

If you've ever watched someone with real talent stall out simply because they didn't know what they stood for, you already understand why this work matters.

Why this isn't “just another SEL program”

KNOWN. is not a social-emotional learning curriculum with a new name, and it's not a career assessment you take once and forget. It's identity infrastructure — a system built to do for identity what report cards do for academics: measure it consistently, track it over time, and use it to guide real decisions.

Our long-term vision is to become the operating system for identity development — a platform schools, nonprofits, businesses, coaches, and families can rely on to measure personal growth with the same precision we've always reserved for test scores. Because identity isn't a “soft” side project to someone's development. It's the foundation everything else gets built on.

The mission

Every person deserves to be known, know themselves, and become who they were created to be.

That's the whole reason KNOWN. exists. Not to add one more assessment to a pile, and not to replace human connection with a dashboard — but to make sure that before anyone is asked what they want to do with their life, they've had a real chance to understand who they are.

I spent twenty years watching people move from uncertainty to clarity when someone finally helped them see themselves clearly. That moment — the one where a person stops performing an identity and starts owning one — is the most powerful thing I've witnessed in education, in coaching, in leadership.

KNOWN. is how we make that moment scalable.

Welcome. We're glad you're here.
